After two days of intensive and meticulous work by the expert panel of Suzhou Co., Ltd. of China Building Materials Inspection and Certification Group, the Honhstar China Construction Waterproof Industry Standardization Laboratory successfully passed the re-evaluation on November 20 and received high recognition from the review panel.
The Standardization Laboratory for China’s Building Waterproofing Industry is organized and implemented by the China Association of Building Waterproofing, and assessed by Suzhou Co., Ltd. of China National Building Material Inspection and Certification Group. The assessment covers testing environment, facilities, equipment, system development, personnel competence, and laboratory technical capabilities, with the aim of improving the testing technology and inspection equipment level of building waterproofing material manufacturers. Honhstar Waterproof first applied to establish a standardization laboratory in August 2017 and passed the assessment in December.
Taking the establishment of a standardized laboratory as an opportunity, Honhstar Waterproof has continuously improved the laboratory’s infrastructure and instrumentation, and has steadily established and refined its management systems and inspection procedures.
The company places great emphasis on building a strong team of inspectors, having established a dedicated management body and formulated detailed reward-and-punishment regulations to continuously enhance inspectors’ fundamental competencies and professional expertise. Each year, the company sends personnel to Suzhou Co., Ltd. of China National Building Materials Inspection and Certification Group for training as waterproofing-material inspectors, with all participants subsequently obtaining the relevant certification. Furthermore, the company has participated in the Building Materials Physical Testing Technician Vocational Skills Competition organized by the Weifang Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau for three consecutive years, consistently achieving outstanding results.
The establishment of standardized laboratories has directly accelerated the company’s R&D and innovation capabilities, yielding impressive results in just three years. The company has successively set up three R&D platforms: the Weifang Municipal Enterprise Technology Center, the Weifang Municipal “One Enterprise, One Technology” R&D Center, and the Weifang Municipal Self-Healing Waterproofing Systems Engineering Laboratory. It has been honored as one of the first batch of “Hidden Champion” enterprises in Shandong Province and as a “Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative” enterprise in Shandong Province, and has also received two First-Class Awards, one Second-Class Award, and one Third-Class Award for Outstanding Achievements in Enterprise Technological Innovation in Shandong Province. In 2019, the company was awarded the Third Prize of the Science and Technology Award for Progress in the Building Waterproofing Industry. In October 2020, at the China Waterproofing Exhibition held in Beijing, the company’s independently developed “5D Rapid-Lay Polymer Membrane-Based Self-Adhesive Waterproofing Membrane” won the Excellent New Product Award.
To further advance the development of a standardized laboratory and meet the company’s rapid growth needs, the laboratory will be relocated and upgraded. The renovated facility is expected to become operational in February 2021, at which time it will significantly enhance the level of testing and R&D equipment and continuously strengthen the company’s innovation and R&D capabilities.
